10 day trips in Catalonia

Looking for day trips in Catalonia? Alone or accompanied? Either way, you can’t miss these plans that we have prepared expressly for you.

1. Mont Rebei Congost

This spectacular natural park is located between the counties of Ribagorza and Pallars Jussà is mind-blowing. The route of the Congost de Montrebei, has become famous because it is one of the largest nature reserves in the Catalan lands, and a place that you can not miss if you are looking for what to do in the surroundings of these lands, if you have already exhausted all the routes and excursions to do in Lleida.

For this hiking excursion we recommend you to be well prepared. A comfortable backpack and appropriate shoes will make the journey more pleasant. As well as sufficient food and water. At Willy’s plan we like to be very honest, that’s why we don’t recommend this route for people who suffer from vertigo or who don’t like heights.

2. The Vall de la Llosa

Vall de la llosa Lles de Cerdanya

One of the excursions in Catalonia that we highlight is this one. It is a nice route recommended for any time of the year, also, if you like snow, it is possible that in winter you can enjoy it here, in Cerdanya, Lleida.

This destination offers you different points of nature besides touring the lake and the valley of La Llosa, such as the castle of La Llosa, the river of Calm Colomer or the hut of Esparvers. This is an authentic nature day of linear route with a medium difficulty.

3. Malniu Lake

Estany de malniu Girona

If you go to the Cerdanya, apart from routes and excursions in Lleidawe recommend you to discover one of the wonders that we place within the routes and excursions of Girona (which obviously, you can not miss). A landscape worth admiring and worth visiting. We are talking about Malniu Lake.

It is accessible to everyone, even children enjoy this destination. This place is extraordinary, since in winter you can enjoy snowfalls and in summer a refreshing dip. Ideal to spend the day with the family at any time of the year and with little slope.

4. Pantà de Sau

It is clear that the Pantà de Sau is not saved as a destination for excursions in Catalonia. This reservoir joins the regions of Osona and La Selva in the province of Barcelona.

It is a very special place because it has a curiosity, in 1962 the reservoir was inaugurated, when its waters began to cover the old village of San Román de Sau.

Currently, when the water level is low, it is possible to see part of the bell tower of the temple, although only in times of drought the village is uncovered and it is possible to visit it.

Near this reservoir, we recommend you to do some of the routes that we propose in other articles, where we talk about the excursion from the foradada to the Salt de Sallent. If on the other hand, you are a demanding person, we invite you to find your perfect excursion in the page where we tell you about the best routes and excursions in Rupit.

5. Massís de Montserrat

Massís de Montserrat Mosnestir de Montserrat

If you like good views, mountains and historic buildings you can make room in your agenda to spend a day and make one of our routes and excursions in Montserrat, Barcelona. At 720 meters above sea level you will find one of the most important symbols of Catalonia and a must-see destination for everyone.

The monastery consists in part of a majestic church that anyone who enters is left open-mouthed. In addition, you can contemplate closely the Virgin of Montserrat, the image of the virgin with the child is mostly made of gold.

6. Natural Park of Cap de Creus

Parc natural de Cap de Creus Girona

This site is the easternmost point of the Iberian Peninsula, in the Mediterranean Sea, between the hiking routes along the Costa Brava.

Not only stands out for its geological wealth, it is also a place of proximity to different localities of the famous Costa Brava. After admiring this natural park you can visit the beaches and the most famous villages of the Catalan coast. Anywhere near this point is perfect to spend a day visiting all the wonders of the surrounding area.

7. Cap Roig Gardens

Jardins de Cap Roig Calella de Palafrugell

For day trips in Catalonia, we offer you the gardens of Cap Roig. If you want to enjoy beautiful coastal landscapes surrounded by nature this is your ideal day. Although if we have to talk about nature, we must highlight the coasts of Girona, or how it is better known as La Costa Brava. In it you will find excursions like the route in Llafranc that we already talked about in another article, or routes and excursions in Pals and surroundings, where we combine charming villages with coves and beaches.

You can not miss the best botanical gardens in Catalonia, located by the sea overlooking the Costa Brava, resulting in a fusion of nature and culture in a land full of more than a thousand botanical species from around the world.

In addition, you can admire various sculptures by renowned artists. Why don’t you stop imagining the situation when you can make it happen? Don’t miss one of the unique landscapes that the coast has to offer.

8. Cim d'Àligues

Cim d’Àligues Sant Feliu de Codines

If you are one of those who prefer the mountain rather than the beach, we recommend you to go on a route or excursion in Sant Feliu de Codines. Here you will find a respectful space with nature and, above all, with the birds. This is one of the many secrets that hides us to go hiking in the Vallès Oriental.

Yes, you read that right, you can enjoy the flight of many different birds among the surrounding mountains. Book by appointment to go with your group of friends or family to see this fantastic spectacle of nature live, with front row views of wonderful birds in their natural state being free and flying through the sky.

9. Roman Amphitheaters and Circuses

To the south, among all the routes and excursions in Catalonia that we can find, we must highlight the province of Tarragona. Well, we find the Roman Empire and a lot of history to discover. For all those curious people who like history have to visit the city of Tarragona, and thus, encourage routes and excursions in the province of Tarragona.

This particular destination is located next to the sea, overlooking the beach we can see the remains of a Roman amphitheater and a Roman circus. It is a good way to disconnect from the city.

In addition, important pieces and mosaics full of great details are preserved in museums that you obviously have to visit to satisfy that curiosity and desire for history.

10. Banyoles Lake

Estany de Banyoles Girona

Are you more into hiking or water sports? Whatever you prefer, in the lake of Banyoles you can do both. In the largest natural lake in Catalonia, in Girona, you can make an excursion with children, totally suitable for them.

On the one hand you can admire the lake while sailing on it (a plan that we already told you about in the route of the Estany de Banyoles that we wrote previously). A good plan to relax in the middle of nature. On the other hand, if you are not much of water, you can walk around with about 8 kilometers of pleasant walk that you can do either on foot or by bike. Come on, now you have no excuse for a great day with any kind of company.
