La Selva is one of the most attractive regions of Catalonia, and if we are talking about summer, we would dare to say that it is the most appropriate to escape for a few days, whether you are planning a vacation with children, or a relaxing getaway. A region with a great natural wealth, enviable beaches and an infinity of places and routes to do in Girona province; making it increasingly irresistible for tourists.
Its capital, Blanes, is located right where all the excursions along the Costa Brava start, and of course, where the summer fun begins. In this place we will be surrounded by purely Mediterranean landscape, where water sports, visiting some of its nearby coves, and sailing trips; become irresistible.
The great fruitful offer that this city offers, allows you to go shopping, enjoy a good gastronomy, and an exceptional nightlife. Not to mention the sites of historical and cultural interest that it also houses.
This route from the Jardí Botànic Marimurtra to the Castell de Sant Joan is a good option to enjoy these coasts.
To start our route that goes through the Jardí Botanic Marimurtra, the Cala Sa Forcanera and the Castell de Sant Joan, we have some tips that you should take into account.
Although we would like to be able to gather an infinity of places that we consider ideal to visit in La Selva, this time we have decided to give a little more importance to nature, take a dip in the beach, and rejoice with the history and culture that surrounds this region.
To begin with, we will arrive at the Marimurtra Botanical Garden, where we will learn about different species of plants characteristic of this area, and although its entrance fee is charged, we consider that its price is affordable for any tourist, especially for how much can be appreciated in this visit.
For our next stop we can arrive by any means of transportation, whether by bike, motorcycle or even walking. And if the adventurous spirit is not your thing, arriving by car is also very convenient if you are able to find parking in the area. Everything is to enjoy the beautiful beaches and a good day of sun in Cala Sa Forcanera.
For those who can not leave without knowing a little history in their tours, Blanes Castle is a recommended last stop that you can not miss. Just a short climb up the mountain will give you the best views of the city and amazing sunsets.

Sa Forcanera Cove
Perhaps the most attractive thing about this cove is how beautiful and isolated it is. This makes it perfect to enjoy the best fun away from the crowds, well, and why not please those who like to have a little more privacy? At Willy’s plan we think of everyone!
So get your swimsuit, a couple of snacks and drinks ready, because we have an unforgettable day ahead of us at the Sa Forcanera cove. We tell you this because this beach can only be reached by boat since it is located under a cliff and access by land is private, so…. it is better to be prepared!
As an alternative, we propose another cove that is accessible on foot, through a footpath or from the village itself. This is the Cana Bona. In it you will have “less privacy” because it is much larger than the previous one, but a very good option if we want to be practical.
Castell de Sant Joan (Blanes)
The Castell de Sant Joan or Castell de Blanes dates back to the 11th century and is located on top of the hill that separates the beaches of Fenal and Lloret de Mar.
Although you can see very little of what remains of the castle, in the midst of ruins still retains the foundations of the tower and pieces of rock that make the visitor’s imagination fly, getting an idea of what it might have been in its heyday.
To go up to meet them, you can ask at some of the tourist information points or take some transportation that will allow you to get there. A place that harbors history and a cultural richness that completely envelops you. We propose you to finish watching the sunset from the same fortification: an ideal plan to enjoy with your partner, family or friends.
