At Willy’s plan we have a great plan for Mallorca. This route that goes from the Santuari de Cura to the Santuari de Sant Salvador, will take you to discover incredible places of this charming region of the Balearic Islands and enjoy an excursion where tradition and nature come together to be the protagonists.
This island is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular destinations in Spain, but we can assure you that no matter how many times we visit it, we never cease to be surprised with all the things to do in Mallorca and that is why we want to share this new route with you.
This route that crosses the Santuari de Cura, the Parc Natural de Montdragó and the Santuari Sant Salvador, is ideal to do in a whole day, recommendably in your own vehicle, and it is a very good route to do in winter seasons (where the hours of sunshine are scarce).
We start by going up to the Santuari de Cura, where there are incredible views. There we will be able to eat, drink something in the bar/restaurant of the place. We continue to explore the Parc Natural de Montdragó, with its paradisiacal coves and magical forests. To finish watching the sunset at the Santuari de Sant Salvador. At the top of the Santuari, we find a giant statue, a cross, a church and an enclosure with bar, restaurant and lodging services. Do you want to make a getaway in Mallorca? Choose Willy’s plan.
Cura Sanctuary
This religious monastery is located at the top of the hill Puig de Randa in the town of Algaida, located in the south of the exotic island of Mallorca.
To reach this place we have to take the road that connects Algaida with the town of Lluchmayor and that leads us to a 5 km uphill to about 543 meters above sea level. But the effort is worth it, when you reach the top you can appreciate the more than 36 surrounding villages that make up the province of Mallorca and the spectacular views of one of the most beautiful natural corners of the island.
“The viewpoint of mallorca”, this is how this place that houses the Santuari de Cura is called. A sacred, natural and patrimonial place cared for by the Franciscan community that has been in charge of maintaining its historical legacy.
Today this place is a hotel, restaurant and viewpoint and stands out for bringing together the best quality and modernity in every corner of its facilities. If you dare to sleep in this place, you should consult the website and make your reservation in advance. We are sure you will love this place.
Montdragó Natural Park
The Parc Natural de Montdragó is a wonderful natural park that brings together the best of the sea and the mountains in one place. Here the fun is on account of white sandy coves, beautiful cliffs, pine forests and a varied fauna and flora characteristic of the region of Mallorca.
When you arrive at the park, you can take different routes that are usually reported at the entrance of this place. It’s just a matter of choosing the one you like the most and choosing the time you want, the important thing is to go through most of the park and not miss any detail of this beautiful place.
In the end all roads lead to the sea… as we said before, any of the routes will take us to enjoy the beautiful beaches surrounded by mountains of this incredible place.
Sant Salvador Sanctuary
Continuing with our route of the sanctuaries of Mallorca. We arrived at the Santuari Sant Salvador, a 14th century monastery that was built during the Black Death, when it was believed that being in elevated areas could be a cure for the disease. A privilege of few who could enjoy the best views of the island, while sheltered from the pandemic.
Today the Sant Salvador Sanctuary is completely restored, preserving its Gothic influence and most of the original paintings and religious monuments. Next to this monastery you can also appreciate the monument to Christ the King, which was inaugurated not more than a century ago.
While tradition has made this place so popular, you should know that it is one of the favorite places for cyclists and hikers from all over Spain, who enjoy the challenge of climbing this beautiful part of the island.
The entrance to this place is free and if you are lucky you can enter to the mass that is celebrated every Sunday.
