This time we have a new plan for the province of Girona. More precisely, we will go to the region of Osonawhere we will enjoy two viewpoints and a castle, considered one of the greatest historical and cultural legacies of Catalonia. Catalonia.
Undoubtedly three spectacular places
to visit in Girona
and that in Willy’s plan we could not let pass unnoticed.
For this route from Castell Besora to Castell dels Torelló we recommend you to bring something to eat, drinks and all the best attitude; since this route will be done in just one day. In addition, in this tour we will disconnect completely, surrounded by nature and beautiful landscapes.
To give you an idea, this plan includes a visit to two medieval monuments and a viewpoint:
The first is the Castell de Besora. This construction, which dates back to the year 895, is located at an altitude of 1,092 meters, so you can already get an idea of the views of this place.
The second place is the Sant Salvador de Bellver viewpoint. This place is dated from the year 1110 and is included in the inventory of the Catalan Architectural Heritage and enjoys spectacular views.
And finally we will visit the Torelló Castlea castle built in 881 that is characterized by its Romanesque architectural style and was declared a “Cultural Asset of National Interest”.
Besora Castle
This castle crowns the hill of Santa Maria de Besora and although today only its ruins are preserved, it is the importance and history of this place, which still prevails in time and arouses great curiosity in tourists. Being a place of great historical and monumental interest, it was declared a “Cultural Asset of National Interest”, not to mention the views from this place that are truly fascinating.
The medieval complex of Besora Castle covers approximately one hectare and is located at a distance of about 1,092 meters above sea level. To get to this place we must walk up a steep and winding road that starts in the village of Teià. This building has a primitive church, a castle of which the remains of some rooms can be seen, probably destined for domestic use and reformed in modern times.
Currently the castle has the support of the Generalitat de Catalunya, who promotes tourism to this place and seeks to give greater value to this monument.
Sant Salvador de Bellver viewpoint
Following our tour of Osonawe arrive at the Sant Salvador de Bellver viewpoint. From this beautiful place we can see the town of Sant Boi de Lluçanès and the plain of Vic.
In this place we will find a beautiful chapel known as San Salvador de Orís. This rural construction was transformed into a monastery governed by the rule of St. Augustine in the 12th century and honors the Virgin of Santa Maria, who is located inside the temple.
Over the years this hermitage has suffered several damages that have contributed to the change of its original design, however it is still preserved in very good condition and can be clearly seen, thanks to several donations, which have kept it standing.
Castell dels torelló
The Castell dels torelló also known as Castell dels Morosis located on the top of a small mountain range in the village of Sant Vicenç de Torelló at 781 mts of altitude, where you can appreciate the Ges Valley.
Of this medieval complex, only the round tower is preserved, characterized by its squared stone ashlars and the lace of rocks that surrounded it. The most important thing about this place is its historical connotation. Although it belonged to several families of the Catalan bourgeoisie, its main use was as a fortified town guard during the times of conquest and although its invasion was inevitable, its multiple owners tried to keep it as territorial jurisdiction for the towns of Sant Feliu de Torelló, Sant Pere de Torelló and Sant Vicenç.
Today it is a charming place where you can spend a pleasant afternoon and enjoy beautiful views at sunset. And if we talk about the photographs, here you can take a few, for the memory of this route through the viewpoints and medieval castle of Osona, which we hope you liked.
