Pont de les Peixateries Velles<\/strong>: few people know that the first documentation we find of this famous bridge dates from the late sixteenth century. And among all the works, reforms and maintenance works, there is the contribution of the company “Eiffel et Cie.” of Paris (builders of the famous Parisian tower), so it is a construction with a very special artistic and historical value for the community of Girona.<\/p>\n

Girona Cathedral<\/strong>: a few minutes walk away, we find the famous Cathedral of Girona, dating from the eleventh century and surprises us with its incredible 23 meters high. It stands out because in 2016, numerous scenes of the renowned series “Game of Thrones” were filmed in this place and it is one of the places with the greatest medieval tradition of the town.<\/p>\n

The Pont Peixateries Velles <\/strong>is one of the most important of Girona, <\/strong>this may be due to the popularity of its builder Gustave Eiffel<\/strong>, if the same who was responsible for beautifying Paris, with the tower that bears his name. The most imposing thing about the Cathedral of Girona <\/strong>is its height, so it is considered the highest point of the town. This beautiful cathedral was begun in the 11th century and it was only in the 18th century that it was really finished.<\/p>\n

The Cathedral of Santa Maria, to which this construction refers, is a great contribution to Spanish architecture, since it preserves 3 characteristic styles in all its construction: Baroque, Romanesque and Gothic. The first one you will see on the main fa\u00e7ade, the second one is clearly reflected in the cloister and the third one is right in the nave of this building. The interior of this church is splendid, highlighting the main altar with a silver and gilded altarpiece and a Romanesque marble cathedra.
