Palam\u00f3s <\/strong>belongs to the Baix Empord\u00e0<\/strong> region and is undoubtedly one of the tourist destinations if you are looking for routes and excursions in the province of Girona<\/a>.<\/p>

It is recognized for having one of the most important commercial ports of the Costa Brava<\/strong>, and even one of the most beautiful to go for a walk and disconnect. In this route through Palam\u00f3s<\/strong> we will not only highlight its importance as a tourist destination, history will play a very important role in this visit, since it is one of the most important attractions of this town and as we like to say… don’t leave a place without knowing its true history.<\/p>\n

But first of all, we suggest you to start by taking a walk along the coast of this beautiful town, along the mythical promenade that crosses most of Palamos. This dirt and concrete promenade goes from Sant Antoni de Calonge to the center of Palam\u00f3s (where the port, old town and bars and nightlife areas are located).<\/p>\n

Along this promenade, you will find playgrounds for the children, entrances to the beach for a swim, people skating and strolling… We suggest you to start this route after lunch, so you can take your lunch while you enjoy a nice and quiet walk. This town dates back to 2500 B.C., making it one of the oldest colonies in the region. Just at this date is when the first human settlements in the area are evidenced; where Greeks, Romans and Turks were protagonists in building the history of Palam\u00f3s.<\/p>\n

Around 1277 it was named “la villa puerto real” by King Pedro III, who also granted it a town charter, making it a strategic port with a fortified settlement of the first order.<\/p>\n

Its port sheltered the first coasting ships and the first steamers of the time, allowing commercial and maritime growth both locally and in the region. This was due to its reconstruction at the beginning of the 20th century.<\/p>\n

The town has always seen the work and influence of fishermen, so it plays an important role in the marketing and distribution of fishery products, making Palamos one of the destinations with the greatest influx of tourism throughout history.<\/p>\n

So, to relive history we invite you to visit some of the many canyons that can be found and visited outdoors. The most famous for that reason, the one located in the old town, in the street that bears his name “carrer del can\u00f3”, where many visitors come to take a picture with him. The offer of beaches in Palam\u00f3s is magnificent, in addition it has a very wide coastal perimeter of crystalline coasts and white sands. These are usually very crowded in summer and attract tourists for their beauty and charm.<\/p>\n

Renting boats on the beaches of Palam\u00f3s is one of the biggest attractions, in addition to practicing water sports and having fun with the endless number of recreational attractions it offers.<\/p>\n

But without a doubt, to go to Palam\u00f3s and not visit the “Playa del Castell”<\/strong>, is to miss out on all the fun. This beach is like bringing history and nature together in one. It is located a few meters from the Iberian settlement of Castell,  also has many services for swimmers and a parking lot near it. It is ideal to spend a day with family and get together with friends. Here you can do some snorkeling and a kayak ride would not be out of place.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, there is theMorro del Vedell beach<\/strong>. It is located south of the seaport of Palam\u00f3s. It is possible to arrive by car, so you will find parking close to the area or even in the port itself. This beach does not have many services for swimmers, so we recommend you to go prepared with food and refreshments to make your stay more enjoyable. Although if you need something, you have the port before you arrive.<\/p>\n
